(Luke 19:40 ESV)
I love the passage of Scripture from Luke 19, when Jesus responds to the Pharisees’ rebuke to quieten his followers, in saying “I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out" (ESV).
It was an image that lingered long with me in New South Wales, Australia, where I had the joy of spending 2020. When I looked at the great Australian rock formations at Katoomba or Wentworth Falls in the mighty Blue Mountains, or gazed at the Wollemi National Park between Mudgee and Sydney, I felt as though those great stones were rising to praise the Lord. And it got me thinking that the unique wildlife of Australia would also know their Lord, should he walk among us again, this time on the dry, red dusty roads of that great south land.
And my heart ached. For despite this majesty, I wanted the people of Australia also to recognise Jesus Christ, who died for them and lives for them. And this became my prayer; one of many lifted up over this beautiful continent of Australia.
I firmly believe, because of what the Lord has stirred in my spirit and shown me in prayer over these past twelve months, that He has a great plan for Australia and He wants His people to come on board with His Holy Spirit so that He might accomplish soon all that He holds in His heart for that land.
If this word echoes in you, I would encourage you to pray earnestly for revival and trust the Lord who hears and responds to our cries.
Hi Juliet, thanks so much for taking time to visit the Blog and leave this comment. I really appreciate it. I'm glad you were inspired. I hope the posts encourage a community of Christians to pray more earnestly and with growing faith, and on the way, discover more clearly their calling. Thank you!
